Tomorrow’s Voices Autism Awareness Month

April 1, 2025 | 0 Comments

As the month of April marks Autism Awareness Month, Tomorrow’s Voices Autism Centre is encouraging everyone to celebrate with a number of events and fundraising opportunities hosted by the charity throughout the month.

A spokesperson said, “To kick off the celebrations, tomorrow, Wednesday April 2, is World Autism Awareness Day/ Light It Up Blue Day and the charity is encouraging the community to “Light It Up Blue” by wearing blue. Take a picture decked out in blue and tag us @tomorrowsvoices.

“Tomorrow’s Voices is incredibly grateful to Gibbon’s Company, who will be holding a special Charity Day on Thursday, April 3 in honor of Tomorrow’s Voices. Donate a minimum of $5.00 and receive 20% off storewide on that day.

“Friday, April 4, Tomorrow’s Voices will hold its 12th Annual Autism Tags It Tag Day. Drop a donation in one of the buckets located across the island – no amount is too small. If you can’t make it to one of our Tag Day locations, donations are welcomed via the website www.tomorrowsvoices.bm or through Butterfield Bank 20006060353295100. We are also thankful to Terceira’s Group of Companies for hosting donation buckets at all 4 of their locations for the month of April. Just a $20 donation will provide 1 hour of therapy for a client on the Autism spectrum.

“Along with providing fundraising opportunities, the charity is also raising awareness about Autism in the community. On Wednesday, April 9, the charity will host the “Building Bridges Workshop & Panel Discussion”. This special Autism Awareness month workshop will cover sensitive language, creating opportunities for engagement, and key considerations to promote inclusivity. The panel discussion will feature family members sharing their personal experiences and advice, offering a heartfelt perspective on fostering understanding and connection. This event will be held at the charity’s headquarters at the TN Tatem facility. It is a free event unless you are attending to acquire Professional Development hours, which will cost $20.00. Limited registration through the website www.tomorrowsvoices.bm

“On Friday, April 11, the charity will continue with its signature Autism Awareness Month event – the 12th Annual Autism Rocks Socks. Put on those wacky socks in support of Tomorrow’s Voices and Autism Awareness Month. Post on social media and tag us in your post. Need wacky socks, check out Tomorrow’s Voices Sargasso Store for convenient delivery or pick up or call 297-4342. Don’t forget to donate your $5.00 through the website www.tomorrowsvoices.bm

“And lastly, on Saturday, April 12, the Tomorrow’s Voices SSG [Social Skills Group] participants will take part in a special community give-back initiative during Autism Awareness Month. This year, they will be creating “Tea Party in a Basket” packages to donate to a local senior’s rest home. These baskets will include tea and snack items, as well as handmade cards and small tokens crafted by our participants. If the community would like to donate, they can drop items to our headquarters at TN Tatem facility by April 11.

“Tomorrow’s Voices is the only charity in Bermuda that provides 1:1 clinically recommended therapy based on Applied Behaviour Analysis [ABA]. For the last 17 years the charity has subsidized up to 80 percent of clients’ fees, so families can access these much-needed services at a nominal cost. Every dollar raised and donated goes towards providing ABA therapy services for individuals with Autism and other developmental disabilities.

“There are many ways to support Tomorrow’s Voices during Autism Awareness month. Donations are accepted through our website www.tomorrowsvoices.bm, Butterfield Bank account 20006060353295100 or credit card transactions via phone by calling 297-4342.
