Field Hockey: Bermuda Defeat Guatemala 2-0

Bermuda’s women’s field hockey team began their campaign in the Central American and Caribbean [CAC] Games Qualifying Tournament with a 2-0 victory over Guatemala in their opening match.
The starting lineups were as follows:

Guatemala: Pamela de Leon, Mónica Cruz, Daniela Cruz, Maria Herbabdez, Jarllen Cifuentes, Sheril Borrayo, Yojaira Cardona, Myrna Gonzalez, Kristhel Echeverria, Valery Ureta, Cristina Giron. Substitutes: Maria Calderon, Brigida Perez, Nordelky, Sharon Solis, Denia Axpuac, Wendy Chile, Candy Puluc.

Bermuda: Christina Stephens-Weser, Alyssa DeSilva, Georgia Harris, Elizabeth Stewart, Grace Lightowler, Jessica Hollis, Chrysda Smith, Robin Stempel, Megan Troake, Abigal Brewer, Jennifer Chisnall. Substitutes: Mackenzie Heaney, Heather Sinclair, Cindi Davis, Elizabeth Davidson, Amber McHugh.

After a scoreless first half, Georgia Harris scored a field goal in the 33rd minute, giving Bermuda a 1-0 lead early in the third period. Jessica Hollis then extended Bermuda’s lead to 2-0 with a penalty corner conversion with 28 seconds remaining in the third period.

Bermuda maintained their two-goal lead through a strong defensive effort in the fourth period, securing a victory in their opening match of the CAC Games Qualifying Tournament.
