Bryce Montgomery has congratulated his younger brother Blake after the London Knights clinched the Ontario Hockey League championship.

The Knights secured their second consecutive J. Ross Robertson Cup with a 5-2 victory at home to the Oshawa Generals in Game 5 on Friday [May 16].

Bryce, who played for the London Knights for several seasons, was in attendance for the decisive game and spoke emotionally after watching his brother hoist the trophy.

“When he first made his debut, I was so emotional seeing him play and put on the jersey,” Bryce said.

“It means a lot to me that he was able to get his championship.

“I don’t usually get too emotional, but I’m really happy to see him lift that trophy.

“I’m really happy for Blake and the whole team.”

Bryce, a 6ft 5ins, 231-pound defenceman, plays for the Bloomington Bison, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Carolina Hurricanes.

He was selected by the Hurricanes in the sixth round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.

Blake, meanwhile, joined the Knights this season after spending the previous two years with the Lincoln Stars in the USHL. He was drafted by the Ottawa Senators in June last year.
