Video: Police Hold Press Conference
[Updating] The Bermuda Police Service [BPS] is holding a press conference this afternoon [May 5] to provide an update on the investigation into the shooting in Sandys last week, that resulted in the death of two people, and three people being injured.
Update | The press conference is still underway, so far the police confirmed that one person has been arrested, said “three others are in hiding” and “they know we are looking for them.” The police said they believe one suspect is injured, they called the injury “significant” to the extent they need medical care.
Update: A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service [BPS] can now confirm the identities of the two people who succumbed to injuries sustained in the shooting incident which took place inside the Legends bar, Sandys, around 10:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 1, 2025.
“They are, 32-year-old, Jasmine Smith and 29-year-old, Shaquan Williams.
“The BPS extends condolences the families of the deceased.
“The investigation regarding this incident is ongoing and the BPS is grateful to those persons who have already come forward to assist with inquiries.
“However, we are appealing for anyone with any information who may not yet have reached out, to please contact the Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Chief Inspector [DCI] Derricka Burns.
