Stitch-A-Thon & Charity Sale On May 24th
The Bermuda Guild of Stitchery’s Stitch-A-Thon and Charity Sale returns May 24 to raise funds for a soup kitchen and Amber’s Wings.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Guild of Stitchery is delighted to invite the community to its annual Stitch-A-Thon and Charity Sale, an inspiring showcase of needlework, creativity, and giving back. The event will be held on Saturday, May 24th from 10am-3pm at First Baptist Church, Middle Road, Devonshire and is open to all who appreciate the art of embroidery, or simply want to support two incredible causes.
“Now in its 13th year, the Stitch-A-Thon is a beloved tradition among Guild members, who come together to raise funds through their handiwork. Members will be stitching for up to 12 hours and have sought sponsorship from their friends and family. All proceeds from the Stitch-A-Thon will go directly to the First Baptist Church Soup Kitchen, which serves more than 100 hot meals every Wednesday evening to individuals and families in need.
“For the second time, the Guild is also holding a Charity Sale, featuring handcrafted items, plants and supplies. Proceeds from the sale will benefit Amber’s Wings, a local charity offering animal-assisted therapy for young people.”
“We believe that the art of embroidery can do more than decorate – it can make a real difference,” said Shina Lyons, President of the Guild. “Not only are we raising funds for vital community services, but stitching together brings joy, connection, and a sense of purpose to everyone involved. It’s uplifting to be part of something creative that also gives back. Every stitch carries meaning, and every dollar raised helps someone in our community.”
The spokesperson said, “Founded in 1994, the Bermuda Guild of Stitchery is a nonprofit dedicated to promoting and preserving the art of embroidery in all its forms. Whether you’re an experienced stitcher or simply curious, the Guild welcomes new members year-round. Annual membership is $55 and includes regular meetings, workshop opportunities, and the joy of stitching in good company.
