The Bermuda Police Service have thanked the public for their “vigilance in reporting suspicious behaviour.”

Acting Commissioner of Police Martin Weekes said, “The Bermuda Police Service [BPS] would like to again thank the public for their vigilance in reporting suspicious behaviour to the BPS and encourage members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity they see, involving individuals on motorcycles.

“Such reports have led to the BPS successfully apprehending individuals carrying weapons around both the Bermuda Day and Carnival celebrations, preventing injury to members of the public.

“Particular attention should be paid to persons riding two-up [two individuals on the same motorcycle], especially if they are observed wearing ski masks, balaclavas or bulky clothing that seems out of place in the heat of summer, as this could indicate an attempt to conceal their identity or weapons and have been linked to recent criminal activity.

“If you observe suspicious conduct, do not intervene. Instead, contact the main police number 295-0011 or 211. Call 911 immediately, in emergency situations only.

“Let’s continue to work together to further strengthen our partnership, which can only be to the benefit of our island home.”
