Mosquera Wins Island Games Bronze Medal
[Updated with video] Golfer Sienna Mosquera said it “means so much” to win a bronze medal for Bermuda at her debut Island Games in Orkney.
Competing in the women’s competition, Mosquera finished the four rounds with a total score of 299.
Her performance was highlighted by an exceptional 65 in the second round, breaking the women’s course record at Orkney Golf Club, which brought her firmly into medal contention.
She posted scores of 82, 78, and 74 in the other three rounds.
Mosquera, 18, said it was an “awesome moment” to step onto the podium draped in the Bermuda flag.
“I’m so happy,” she told Bernews. “I stayed confident with my shots, and managed to win a medal. It feels awesome.”
The competition was closely contested throughout the final day. Sophie Beardsall, of the Isle of Wight, won the gold medal with a total score of 295.
The silver medal went to Emma Lindman, of Åland, who finished at 296, just three strokes ahead of Mosquera.
Bermuda’s women’s golf team – Mosquera, Tracy Burgess, Katrin Burnie and Morgan Lightbourne – also made a strong showing, finishing fourth in the team event.

Well done, Sienna Mosquera!
