Bradford Never An Option For Nahki Wells

Graham Alexander, the Bradford City manager, has revealed the Sky Bet League One side never considered trying to sign their former striker Nahki Wells.

Wells played for Bradford from 2011 to 2014 before joining Championship side Huddersfield Town for $2 million [£1.5 million].

The 35-year-old was linked with a move to Bradford this summer from Bristol City before joining Luton Town.

Bradford are at home to Luton on Saturday [August 16].

“We knew we could not sign a player of that calibre [Wells] within our budget, or we could but it would mean we would play the season with 14 players!” Alexander told the club’s media team.

“I heard the rumours myself, but the reality is we could not afford a player like that.”
