Bermudian goalkeeper Nathan Trott has joined Sky Bet League One side Cardiff City on loan from Danish SuperLiga team Copenhagen.

Trott, who made 30 appearances for Copenhagen last season, joined the Danish outfit from English Premier League side West Ham United last summer.

It is understood Trott’s deal includes an option to buy if the Welsh side achieve promotion back to the Championship at the end of the campaign.

The 26-year-old has previously had stints at Danish second-tier side Vejle, AFC Wimbledon in League One and French side AS Nancy Lorraine in Ligue 2.

Trott said he is thrilled to make the move to Cardiff.

“It’s a great move for me,” he told Wales Online. “I’ve spoken with Brian about the direction he wants the club to go in, and it’s something I want to be a part of.

“I’m no stranger to new environments and learning new things – I see that as a strength. This is a huge moment for me in my career, and I’m happy to be here.”

Barry-Murphy, the Cardiff head coach, added: “We want to recruit absolute quality in every area of the pitch, and players that can play the way we see the club playing as we move forward — and Nathan embodies all of that.

“I’ve known and watched Nathan play for a long time. I actually managed against him when he was on loan at Wimbledon.

“He fits the mould of the player we want to attract to the club.

“He’s still very young, has a high level of skill, and real room for growth. That’s the challenge we’ll put to him.

“We’ll also be looking to him to bring leadership qualities to the squad.”
