Erica Hawley Reflects On 70.3 Race Debut
Erica Hawley has reflected on her impressive debut in the professional women’s division at the Ironman 70.3 La Quinta near Palm Springs, California, last weekend.
Competing in her first 70.3 race, Hawley completed the 1.9-kilometre swim, 90km bike, and 13.1-mile run in 4hr 17min 32sec.
Her splits were 26:02, 2:21:26, and 1:24:59.
“No major implosions, no gut problems, and I became a half Iron[wo]man!” Hawley said.
“I definitely made a few rookie mistakes, like forgetting how to mount a bike and my hydration mount becoming detached, but I learned so much about myself in four hours.
“It was so fun to finally race an Ironman event, see old friends, and meet new ones!
“I can understand the hype. I’m sure this won’t be the last!”
