Karting Championship Race Day #10 Results
The Bermuda Karting Association [BKA] returned to action on Sunday [Feb 15] for Race #10 of the Bermuda Rubis Energy Karting Championship, featuring a strong field of 42 drivers.
A spokesperson said, “After losing a race day to severe winter weather, the Bermuda Karting Association [BKA] returned to action on Sunday, February 15, hosting Race #10 of the Bermuda Rubis Energy Karting Championship under clear, sunny skies. A strong field of 42 drivers took to the track for an exciting day of competition.
“The L206 Senior class welcomed newcomer #57 Stephen Flood to the grid. Heats 1 and 2 delivered consistent results, with #91 Jason “Skuzzie” North claiming first place in both races. #84 Owen DeCosta, #95 Robert Wheatly, and #6 David Barbosa rounded out positions two through four. Heat 3, however, brought a shake-up in the order, as #95 Robert Wheatly secured victory ahead of #6 David Barbosa in second. #8 Harry Dunkley finished third, followed by #47 Chris Smith in fourth.
“In the TAG Senior division, #84 Nathan DeCosta dominated the field, taking first place in all three heats. The battle for the remaining podium spots proved more competitive. #518 Ryan Burgess secured second place in Heats 1 and 2, while #24 Blake Horseman finished third in both of those races. #34 Jorja Thomas delivered a strong showing with fourth place finishes in Heats 1 and 3 and fifth in Heat 2. Meanwhile, #159 Jonah Moniz secured fifth and fourth place finishes in Heats 1 and 2.
“The TAG Junior class featured a thrilling contest for the top spot across all three heats. #12 Alondro Albouy captured the checkered flag in Heats 2 and 3, while #92 Tanner Correia claimed victory in Heat 1. #30 Syah Pedro secured third place in Heats 1 and 2, and #81 Jonathan Linberg crossed the line in fourth during Heat 1.
“In the KZ Shifter class with 17 karts reaching top speeds in one of the day’s most competitive categories, fans were treated to intense racing throughout the field. #3 Ryan Rebello and #11 Chris Ricca demonstrated remarkable consistency, finishing first and second respectively in all heats. Third place changed hands in each race, with #33 Jason Correia finishing third in Heat 1, #51 Stephen Corrado in Heat 2, and #6 David Selley in Heat 3.
“In the KZ Masters class, #53 Jason DeCouto delivered a steady and commanding performance to win all three heats. #14 Rian Lindo earned second place finishes in Heats 2 and 3 and placed third in Heat 1. #2 William Dunkley took second in Heat 1 and third in Heats 2 and 3.
“The Cadet class welcomed two new young drivers, #25 Miguel Cabral and #301 Mason Sousa. Consistency defined the category, as #92 Tanner Correia swept all three heats. #112 Jacob Garrett secured second place throughout the day, followed by #25 Miguel Cabral in third and #301 Mason Sousa in fourth.
“The return to racing under bright skies provided an action-packed day for drivers and spectators alike, setting the stage for continued excitement in the championship series.”
