Bermuda Sailing: 2010 Onion Patch Series

May 6, 2010

[written by Talbot Wilson] If your boat is entered in the 2010 Newport Bermuda Race® in either the St. David’s Lighthouse or Gibbs Hill Lighthouse Division, you are eligible and invited to race the 2010 Onion Patch Series.

So far, twenty individual Onion Patch Series entries are now in hand with the entry deadline more than a month away. Two three-boat teams have been formed. Organizers expect more than forty boats to sail the series.

The Onion Patch Series consists of the NYYC Annual Regatta presented by Rolex on June 12-13, the Newport Bermuda Race® starting June 18th and the RBYC Anniversary Regatta. These three events comprise an exceptional group of five races that offers the most diverse and challenging racing of any multi-event series in the world, the ultimate test of inshore and offshore racing skill.

Boats may enter the Series through June 10th by using the “edit entry” process on the Newport Bermuda electronic entry form at Bermudarace.com. Be sure to designate your Onion Patch team if you are on one. Individual entry must be made in each regatta through the NYYC website.

Yachts that are unable to participate in the NYYC Annual Regatta, but which will be racing Newport Bermuda Race®, may still enter the Anniversary Regatta in Bermuda through the NYYC website.
