Video: Start of Newport Bermuda Yacht Race
In excess of 180 boats set off from the American East Coast to take part in the Newport Bermuda Yacht Race on Friday June 18th. As of June 20th, the 100 ft Speedboat leads the fleet to Bermuda. The Cruising Club of America and the Royal Bermuda Yacht Club, co-organizers of the biennial event since 1926, are expecting over 180 entries on the line tomorrow.... Read more of this article
Speedboat Leads Newport to Bermuda
As expected because of her 100-feet length overall, Speedboat continues to lead the 183-boat fleet in the Newport Bermuda Race. On Sunday morning [June 20] she was about 200 nautical miles from Bermuda sailing at 11 knots. Fishing Lines Harming Birds
Following the discovery of dead seabirds found on local beaches, the Bermuda Audubon Society has requested the cooperation of local fishermen to ensure the birds do not come to any further harm.
