49-Year-Old Man Arrested After Church Burglary

October 11, 2010

Early this morning [Oct 11] the Police arrested a man right after he broke into West Pembroke Pentecostal Church and stole a safe.

Around 4:10am today, the Police responded to a report of a burglary at the West Pembroke Pentecostal Church. The Police say that it appeared that the culprit gained entry into the church and stole a safe.

The suspect attempted to flee on foot but was subsequently apprehended by the Police and the safe was recovered. A court appearance for the alleged culprit, a 49 year old Pembroke man, is anticipated in due course.

This is the fourth reported break-in of a Church in recent months, as only a few days ago, St Peters Church was broken into, and in April of this year another church was broken into, not once – but twice. Burglar[s] entered St. Mary’s Church on Middle Road, Warwick twice in one weekend, stealing electrical equipment each time.

In addition, the Police caught another would-be culprit in action yesterday. Around 3:30pm on Sunday, Police were on mobile patrol in the Pitts Bay Road, Pembroke area when they observed a robbery in progress and immediately took action. The suspect was riding a motorcycle and attempted to elude officers; however he was pursued and arrested. The victims, a visiting American couple were not injured and their property, a bag containing personal items, was recovered.

There is also a court appearance for the alleged culprit, a 52 year old Pembroke man, anticipated in due course.

I find it so amazing that when Police do something great nobody has anything to say, but over 40 people had so much to say about a police officer getting in an accident. I guy breaks into a church no less and NOBODY can come on here and say good job to the police. Thats crazy to me
