Firearm Offence: Police Arrest 20-Yr-Old Man

The Bermuda Police have arrested a 20-year-old Paget man in connection with the firearm incident that occurred 8pm last night in the St. Monica’s Road, Pembroke area. No one was injured in the incident, which saw two men on a black motorcycle discharge a firearm in the area.

The Serious Crime Unit also continues its investigations into the shooting incident at White Hill Field, Sandys last night, which saw a 19 year old man shot.

The Police say:

We would like to take this opportunity to thank those members of the public who have assisted Police so far with information, statements, and other assistance at the scene. We would also like to acknowledge the patience and understanding of the public that was affected by the road closures whilst detectives examined the crime scene for forensic and other evidence.

We are still interested in speaking with persons who were on the public bus that dropped the victim off at White Hill Field around 6:35pm on Monday evening, or anyone that saw or knows anything that may assist the enquiry team. Anyone with information on the shooting incident at White Hill is urged to call the Serious Crime Unit at 299-8106.

In addition, Police Officers are making enquiries into the report of gunshots in the area of the Tennis Stadium and Bernard’s Park last night. It is reported that a number of persons were seen fleeing the Tennis Stadium area on a motorcycle and also on foot immediately after the sound of the gunshots were heard.

Investigators would like to speak to any person who witnessed these incidents or who may have seen two men riding a black motorcycle in the Marsh Folly/Tennis Stadium area around this time. Anyone with information on these incidents is urged to call the Hamilton Criminal Investigation Unit on 299-4535.

Also, anyone that has information about these incidents can pass that information anonymously to the independent & confidential Crime Stoppers Bermuda hotline at 800-8477.

      That’s a good point. I don’t recall hearing of a case where one had been recovered. A comforting thought.

    One only has to look at the Modus Oper and see why. These are just punks getting their rocks off and making a name for themselves within the gangs. Most of them if not all don’t want want to be known personally as this would cause them harm and their families in such a small community.

    It’s not like they are big guys in the drug and crime world. They are not. The big guys sit back, reap in the monies and if you don’t tow the line they send in the small fry and wack you.

    As for the guns? They are everywhere. In plain sight, hidden right in front of your eyes. Sorta like the “DVD” drop offs………….pick a wall and or palm tree…….
