February 29, 2012

Nineteen students from seven different high schools set off to New York early this morning [Feb.29] after being invited to attend the United Nations International School Conference.

The Bermuda Youth News.com team will attend the Conference, which will be held on March 1 – 2, 2012, in the General Assembly Hall of the United Nations in New York.

The group ready to depart Bermuda this morning:

This year’s Conference, entitled “Human Exploitation: Exposing the Unseen,” will investigate a hidden world of corruption and mistreatment through the exploration of various topics, including child labor, human trafficking, and more.

The goal of this year’s Conference is to present different perspectives regarding Human Exploitation and to investigate its many facets whilst encouraging participants to objectively develop their own views on the topic.

Over the two conference days, guest speakers will address various aspects of the theme, and afterwards, in Q and A sessions, time will be allotted for the students to engage in a dialogue with the speakers.

There will also be opportunities for students to discuss the conference subject with each other through the Student Panel and Student Debate sessions.

Saltus student Zindzi Swan & Berkeley student Ariana Caines give a brief overview of the Conference:
