Cricket: USA Beat Bermuda By 34 Runs

The USA won the toss and elected to bat in the ICC World Twenty20 Qualifier 11th Place Play-off Semi-Final against Bermuda in the United Arab Emirates today [Mar.22].

The USA got off to a flying start with opener Stephen Taylor scoring 38 runs off 22 balls, taking them to 49 after 4.5 overs. United States of America managed 193/5 in their allotted 20 overs with Sushil Nadkarni their top scorer with 48 from 30 balls, while Orlando Baker scored 39 from 32 deliveries. Sammy Robinson was the pick of the Bermuda bowlers with figures of 4-0-41-2, while Rodney Trott, Joshua Gilbert and Kamau Leverock all had a wicket each.

In reply Bermuda could only manage 159/8 in their allotted 20 overs 34 runs short of their target. Lionel Cann was the top scorer with 73Cann scored his runs off 47 deliveries, he hit four 4’s and three 6’s, while David Hemp added 27 from 24 balls and Fiqre Crockwell was the only other batsman in double figures with 23 from 17 deliveries. Muhammad Ghous was the pick of the United States of Americas bowlers with figures of 4.0-0-20-2.

    this is so embarrassing: Bermuda who has played cricket all her life loses to the United States – the land of baseball and apple pie among other things, the least of which is cricket.
