St Paul’s To Host Art Exhibition On Saturday

September 14, 2012

This Saturday evening St. Paul AME Church’s Centennial Hall will be transformed into the site of Bermuda’s latest art exhibition. In a unique partnership with local artists, St. Paul AME Church has styled the experience “Mustard Seed at St. Paul”.

“We wanted to demonstrate the vibrancy of the local arts community and use the Church as a means to showcase these artists and their work “said Committee Chairperson C. Virginia Wilson.

The exhibition will be opened by Premier Paula Cox on Saturday 15th September with a black tie reception at Centennial Hall starting at 5:30pm. Chairman of the Bermuda National Gallery Gary Phillips will be the master of ceremonies and well known artist Manuel Palacio is the exhibition’s curator.

“A highlight of the evening will be the silent auction of a phenomenal African sculpture generously donated by Mr. Colin M. “Dusty” Hind of the Crisson & Hind Gallery. This is an opportunity not to be missed…” remarked Mr. Phillips.

Works by Kenneth Burch, Antoine Hunt, Sharon Wilson, Christopher Grimes and others will be displayed. Part proceeds of the sales will be in support of the Church’s building fund.

The Exhibition runs from 15th – 28th September and is open daily between 11a.m. and 6p.m. Artists have also kindly made themselves available to the Island’s students who have been encouraged to attend as part of their art instruction in schools.

“St. Paul occupies a prominent geographical site in the City of Hamilton and is a community church. This new partnership promoting local art is part of that community outreach and we encourage everyone to support this exciting exhibition” said Rev. Dr. Lanel D. Guyton.
