GSPIC “Spirit Of Giving” Campaign A Success

December 3, 2012

Gina Spence Productions in Christ [GSPIC] and the Bermuda Broadcasting Company [BBC] thanked all of the sponsors and supporters for their support with the “Christmas in Bermuda The Spirit of Giving” campaign.

The event, which was in its inaugural year, was a phenomenal success. Through partnerships with The Coalition for the Protection of Children and Age Concern, as well as nominations from the public, they were able to assist more than 130 individuals.

Healthy food packs were given to 94 children, and Phoenix gift cards were given to 43 seniors, to help them in purchasing medications and other necessary items.

“The Spirit of Giving” campaign was concluded with a Pre-Christmas Party, held on Saturday, December 1 on the grounds of the Bermuda Broadcasting Company to celebrate the participants, sponsors and supporters.

More than 200 people were in attendance, with special entertainment by Pastor Jonathan Lambe, Big Snipes, CCACC Dance Ministry, Toni Robinson, Anointed for Praise, Nadanjah, Elca Marazana, and Haz Bartley. The seniors danced, the children had fun and at the end there were free giveaways, including mobile digital TV’s, gift certificates from Buzz and hams and turkeys, courtesy of The Market Place.

According to BBC CEO, Rick Richardson, “It was a great way to herald the arrival of the Christmas season. Our radio and television stations have been a part of the broader community for many years and that bond was evident on Saturday when people of all ages gathered at our Devonshire plant to celebrate and receive gifts from those in the business world and the community at large.”

GSPIC founder, Gina Spence, shared, “Events like this are what make Bermuda so special. We were able to make history – for the first time a campaign was successful in raising funds to provide much needed medication for our seniors, and also provide healthy food items for children and babies. We are blessed and privileged to have played a part with the many people and community partners who helped to bring holiday cheer to those less fortunate.”

BBC Programme Director Tracey Neale, said, “Saturday’s successful event has us off to a great start, but this is just the beginning. You can see highlights of the event on the Christmas In Bermuda.. The Sprit of Giving TV special. The 90-minute show will feature 20 yuletide melodies performed by the best local and international talent.

“We have something for everyone from Gospel and Rock & Roll to Salsa and Jazz. There will be special segments on Christmas memories and beloved recipes passed down through the generations. Please join us at 7:30PM on December 18th and 24th on ZBM TV9 and ZFB TV7 and at 8:30PM on Christmas Day on ZBM TV9.”

Special thanks to our corporate sponsors, The Market Place, The Phoenix Stores, BGA, Colonial, Spanish Town, BAC, ACE, Belco and the Fairmont Hamilton Princess and Fairmont Southampton hotels.
