  1. Will says:

was Wolde one of those detained….you plastered his name everywhere so whats the point in not naming those arrested in connection. The police don’t randomly pick people up you know, generally in these cases its someone already known to the police for past transgressions.

    • agood job says:

Maybe they had the other two already and were looking for him?

  2. Good grief says:

Will: please let the police do their job. At least there are 3 people arrested. You will find out in due time who they are. Always expecting a miracle.

  3. talk2mestr8 says:

@Will……Do you nou full stories?! Bernews update reported this Wolde person was in police custody!! ThiS update was done within hours of the initial appeal!!
It is good to know the BPS is on top of things!! To the family of young Mr Augustus, my sincerest condolences!

    • Will says:

doesn’t mean Wolde was arrested for the crime though does it..says he was in custody, not arrest. besides he could have been the one they are detaining under the firearm laws for 14 days or so…either way i hope the streets where they live are quieter and safer now that these boys are in custody.

  4. Will says:

im still more concerned with the fella who jumped ship a day after the murder…seems rather suspicious..let his name be known as there are plenty of Bermudians living in the UK that could keep an eye out!
No one the police are looking for in connection to a murder just ups and goes on the next flight in the history of murders if they are innocent..just sayin…..
besides i doubt he was headed back to school…which starts near the middle to end of january in the UK

    • Booze cruise says:

Keep an eye out? the UK is a little bigger than that!!

    • Nuffin but de Truth! says:

      @ Will,
The UK Authorities will have been notified,it’s only a matter of time before he’s found.

      • blessings says:

Of course UK authorities are on alert, full squad aiming the minute the plane touches down, it won’t take them long no sirree!!!

      • Will says:

one can only hope…lets also hope that the Gang task force from Scotland Yard Ewart Brown rejected is on the same damn flight.

        • King says:

Get it rite!!!!! Government DOES NOT control the police. The governor does!!! I Burch had been allowed (a few years back) to unleash the JDF an Austrailians that were here like the Government wanted to…..we wouldn’t be in the state we are…police chickens, scared do their job….

          • Will says:

and who was it that prevented them from coming here? as far as i know the Governor was on board for bringing in a UK taskforce

          • Mad Dawg says:

King, that is such BS. Burch had no idea what to do about crime. The PLP wanted to let prisoners out the first chance they got. Burch had full control of the police. He just blamed the governor every time a crime happpened, and then every year the PLP reduced police funding.

    • tricks are for kids says:

He can easily hide out there…….which is the unfortunate thing…..as long as he doesn’t apply for benefits he can move from place to place…..

  5. swing voter says:

a change in Govt means an instant change in police tactics and strategy. Out with softly softly and in with 1980s policing a-la Hamlett, Jackson, Ramsey, Arnfield, Allen crazy cop style. bring back the crazy cops!

    • #ArtOfWar says:

I didn’t know the government control the police I thought that was the governors job..
      #WishfulThinking

      • VJ says:

The only one that sounds crazy is swing voter! You are right, it is the Governor that oversees the operational aspects of policing. There is just no way a change of government had ANYTHING to do with this arrest or the tactics utilized. I feel that there are several factors at play. For one thing, if you check it this murder happened outside of the usual geographical zone (Glebe Rd, Rambling Lane, etc) and was a totally different M.O. From what I understand, there was an altercation witnessed by several people before the shooting. And maybe the people of St George’s are more willing to step forward and speak, unlike the people from other areas who band together and collectively keep their traps shut. Swing voter obviously thinks that the wheels turn that quickly behind the scenes, when that just isn’t so. It will take more than 2 weeks of meetings and brainstorming before things start happening. In any event, good work on the part of the BPS!!!

        • Rick Rock says:

The Governor delegates the day to day operational control of the police to the government of the day. So if police operations are ineffective, it’s the government who could have changed it. If police operations are effective, that too is a result of the government.

swing voter, don’t you get it? If anything bad happens, it’s the OBA’s fault. If anything good happens, it’s by pure accident.

          • VJ says:

Rick Rock, in this case it IS purely accidental. It’s plain ridiculous to credit them with this when the key players HAVE NOT EVEN MET YET. Come on now, how could the OBA have effected change so fast? Be realistic and take your head out of your a$$. And they said the PLP had blind followers. Geesh, lay off the kool-aid- the miracles you’re expecting ARE NOT gonna happen!!!

            • Mad Dawg says:

So have you agreed it’s not the governor that oversees operational policing? That was your assertion this morning. Do you now agree it’s actually the government?

  6. Dee (Original) says:

Swing voter, don’t be ridiculous. This has nothing to do with a change in government. The Minister hasn’t even met with all the stakeholders yet, so take it easy. It has more to do with tons of eyewitnesses and people speaking up for a change. We will have better results all round if people continue to report what they saw, no matter how trivial it may seem.

    • swing voter says:

um excuse me @ Dee but people haven’t been talking for a reason. No confidence in the police and Minister of Public Safety and the previous government did and said nothing about the tit for tat murders. Cannonier and Barron have been talking tough, OBA have promised to get tough on criminals in writing, all this compared to the softly softly approach by the previous government thugs been running rampant for at least last 8 years….yeah OBA take credit where credit is due. when do you recall a suspect being asked to contact police immeditately…that tactic paid dividends big time

      • Clear View says:

@Swing Voter, you are giving credit to a government which has not implemented any new policies, not passed any new legislation, nor which has even had their throne speech? That was clearly not a very smart comment.
Give credit to where credit is due; to the BPS.

      • TR says:

What you fail to realize is that the POLICE HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THE GOVERNMENT! THE GOVENOR CONTROLS THE BPS! a shift in government has nothinggggggggggg to do with how this case is being solved! . . . give our community credit where credit is due. WE are tired of this BS, so WE are coming forward with what WE know!!!
OBA UBP PLP, Have nothing to do with it!!!!
and if you think that the bermuda gov has changed so drasticly in 2weeks then something is seriously wrong with you Sir!

        • Mad Dawg says:

You’re wrong. The government controls the police, day to day. That’s why Jonathan Smith was taking credit fot the crime rate in August 2012. He took credit for it, because he had control over the police. And now when something good happens, it’s nothing to do with the governmentt. It was different for the PLP I guess.

          • VJ says:

The Commissioner of Police answers to the Governor, not the Minister. The Minister has some say, of course, as far as police resources, etc but the buck ends with the Governor. So they actually goe hand in hand. The Ministry ensures the police has the budget and resources to do it’s job efficiently, but the Governor is the overall Commander. I think the whole point is that no way the OBA could have so quickly and drastically gotten the ball rolling in the right direction. You are insane if you think things happen that quickly within the police force. It doesn’t.

            • Mad Dawg says:

So Jonathan Smith was blowing smoke when he was taking credit for the PLP reducing crime then. I see.

  7. 50cent says:

@swing vote, did Hamlett get his a$$ beat nearly to death for being a “crazy cop”?

  8. Nuffin but de Truth! says:

If people dont like their ugly Mug Shots plastered all over the Internet as WANTED…they should not get involved in things that will draw the attention of the Police.

Get Used to it suckers,it’s going to start happening more and more.
No where to run to baby!

  9. Dee (Original) says:

Swing Voter you sound completely delusional. You think that in under TWO weeks, people miraculously have so much “faith” they’re speaking up? In under TWO weeks, the police have managed to change their operational tactics when key meeting won’t take place until the new year (and yes, I know this for a fact!) If these guys were so afraid, and the OBA is putting an end to tit-for-tat murders we wouldn’t have had a murder to begin with. I am not knocking the OBA, but your timeline is unrealistic. When (not if) there is another murder, and things don’t happen as quickly as this one, what will you say then? They asked a suspect to call the police immdediately, so what? That’s good work on the part of the police, kudos should go to them not the OBA. Give credit where it’s due…

  10. ABM says:

Can I say it again please!!!????

Everytime a Parkside gang member is shot, someone is immediately arrested!! Let it be someone from 42 or country that is shot and majority of the time the case goes unsolved with no arrests! Makes me go hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm……….could it be that all of Parkside is a bunch of pricks? Or is it that the public just hates the individuals from 42 and country?? I tell you buh!!

    • Will says:

they are all a bunch of pricks in the sense that they compare to the male genitalia..they are dick heads with the mentality of an a#$hole (s%$%ting over everyone)

    • omg says:

um where have you been?!?! 42 is snitching on them damn selves!!! we all know which inmate is up west gate ratting on his friends!!

and at the end of the day WHO CARES who is snitching! get off this no sntiching BS!!! PEOPLE ARE DYING!!!!
