Mr. Lloyd Fray, President of the Bermuda Cricket Board, congratulated local umpire Roger Dill on his international career to date:

Mr Fray said: “On behalf of the Board I would like to congratulate Roger on his immense contribution to international cricket during his time on the ICC Associates and Affiliates Panel of Umpires. His exemplary officiating has helped raise the awareness and the profile of Bermudas officials.”

Highlights from Roger Dill’s international resume include:

  • He became the first ever Associate Umpire to officiate a game involving a Full Member [Zimbabwe v Canada].
  • Later in 2006 he was invited to umpire an ODI between England and Ireland.
  • Dill umpired for 25 ODI matches including England, West Indies, Bangladesh and Zimbabwe and 11 ICC Intercontinental Cups [4-day] matches.
  • Dill officiated at the U19 World Cup in Sri Lanka in 2006 and Malaysia in 2008.

Mr. Fray continued, “I recognise that Roger continues to play a significant role locally to assist officials and provide education support. He is also playing a key role in the preparation for the upcoming cricket world cup qualification tournament that Bermuda is hosting in April.”

President of the Bermuda Cricket Umpires Association, Walisfort Manders stated, “Bermuda’s cricket has been well served by Roger Dill being on the ICC’s Associates & Affiliates Panel for over a decade. He is an acknowledged trailblazer for regional umpires and all Bermuda can bask in his accomplishments as noted in the ICC press release and echoed by the BCB President.”

“The BCUA has been blessed that Roger has shared his accomplishments with its members through mentoring, training, and in being a role model for established and aspiring local umpires. We will continue to draw on Roger’s exemplary capabilities as he continues to play a pivotal role in the continued development of Bermuda’s cricket and its officials.”
