32 Year Old Defendant Granted $10,000 Bail

A defendant — who cannot be legally be named at this stage — who was charged with counts including showing indecent pictures to a 12 year old girl was yesterday [Oct 17] granted bail.

At his initial hearing on October 3rd, the 32-year-old had been remanded into custody, however he was granted bail at his appearance yesterday.

Senior Magistrate Archie Warner granted the man $10,000 bail and required him to provide a surety. He was also ordered to wear an Electronic Monitoring Device and abide by a home curfew that could only be broken for emergencies.

It was also ordered that he have no contact with the girl or her family; and he must have no contact with any children under the age of 16.

The man returns to Court on 31st October.

    He could have been granted permission to attend the funeral wearing the electronic bracelet but made to return to prison until his next court date. He should not have been granted bail considering the circumstances.

    actually it is a two way street.
    This is a result of 30-40 years of non parenting and just having sex.
    One only has to look at the single parents in Bermuda and 80% are headed by females.
    Where have all the men gone one might ask.
    Looking for another playoff on the ’18th hole’.

    I am totally for protecting the victims of these crimes, but when they find these men guilty, there needs to be a name and shame list along with their photos. This may assist families in protecting their children from becoming future victims. Too much emphasis is placed on criminals’ rights. When they impede on the rights of others, these convicted criminals need to lose their rights. Most victims never recover from the crimes committed against them, but these criminals are out within a short period of incarceration, and usually reoffend. Something to think about OBA.
