John Hindess Called To The Bermuda Bar

John-Hindess_HeadShot_colourMarshall Diel & Myers Limited’s new associate John Hindess [pictured] was called to the Bermuda Bar earlier today [June 13].

Mr. Hindess joined the Litigation and Advice Team at Marshall Diel & Myers Ltd. at the beginning of June 2014 and was eager to obtain rights of audience in the Courts of Bermuda.

Mr. Hindess was born and raised in Bermuda, and completed his Bachelor of Arts [Hons] at Queen’s University in Canada, and then obtained his Bachelor of Laws at the University of Warwick.

Upon meeting his wife, he traveled back to Canada and took the necessary accreditation courses to be called to the Bar in British Columbia, Canada in 2011.

He trained and worked in Vancouver for three years, gaining considerable litigation experience making appearances in all levels of court in British Columbia including the B.C. Court of Appeal.

After starting his own family, Mr. Hindess decided to return to Bermuda with his wife, Leah, and three year old son, William.

Mr. Hindess said,“I am extremely excited and proud to be returning home to practice law in Bermuda. My time in Canada gave me valuable experience and many friends and colleagues who will be missed.

“However, I am thrilled to be working for Marshall Diel & Myers Limited and I look forward to growing my practice with the Firm for many years to come.”

Mr. Hindess’ practice encompasses all aspects of commercial and civil litigation. In his early practice, he gained a broad experience in contract and commercial litigation with an emphasis on construction law.

As his practice developed, he expanded his experience and knowledge with a wider variety of litigation matters including family law, privacy law, health law, employment law and administrative law.

Mr. Hindess has extensive advocacy experience and regularly appeared before all levels of court and administrative tribunals in British Columbia, and was also a member of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals in Vancouver.

He also has significant drafting experience including employment, construction and contractors’ contracts as well as share and asset purchase agreements, non-disclosure agreements and confidentiality agreements.
