Two People Charged With Possessing $140,000

Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [Dec 31] two Costa Rica nationals faced indictable charges involving possessing some $140,000 in cash knowing it was proceeds of criminal conduct.

29-year-old Denia Guterriez Rojas and 27-year-old Carlos Eduardo Melendez Jiminez were not required to enter pleas as as the charges can only be heard in the Supreme Court.

The charge put to the pair was that between 24 and 28 December 2014 they allegedly possessed just over $140,000 in cash and which they knew to be the proceeds of criminal conduct.

Both were remanded into custody until 14th January when they will reappear for Mention.
