Sunday June 28th: “Good News” Spotlight

Johnny Barnes celebrating his 92nd birthday, a number of people in Bermuda stepping up to help a family stranded on the island following a plane diversion, 14 students completing the Certificate for Nursing Assistants, Madelyn Moore shattering a record in earning a gold medal in the 2015 Central American and Caribbean Swimming Championships, and athlete Tyrone Smith moving up to be ranked 14th in the world  were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.

Other good news stories included BUEI opening its “Living With The Ocean” exhibit, more than $1,000 being raised at the Scaur Charity Soup Tasting Party, Digicel Bermuda offering of college scholarships, seven students receiving their jujitsu youth black belt, five students being awarded with the Richard Eve Scholarship, the “We Love You Dad” event honouring Father’s Day, the Bermuda Rose Society’s book “Roses in Bermuda Revisited” being awarded the Literary Award for Excellency and Chris Estwanik winning Bermuda’s first gold medal of the Island Games.

We also posted various community photo galleries, including Cal Ripken Baseball League playoff action, Purvis Primary School’s graduation, Berkeley Institute’s graduation, the Bermuda Zoological Society’s “Living Classroom” project, the Bermuda Cricket Board’s prize presentation, the Greenrock Eco-Schools awards event. Canada Day celebrations on the beach, PHC fun day, and NVCC Harold ‘Doc’ Dowling.
