America’s Cup To Be Broadcast In Portugal
Portuguese broadcaster Sport TV has acquired the broadcast rights to all events in the 35th America’s Cup for Portugal.
Under the new deal, Sport TV will broadcast live racing and highlights from all events, including the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series in 2015 and 2016 [beginning this weekend in Portsmouth, UK], the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup Qualifiers and Challenger Playoffs and the America’s Cup Match, presented by Louis Vuitton, in June 2017.
“We are delighted to be partnering with Sport TV again and look forward to engaging the Portuguese audience through extensive coverage from a committed partner,” said Harvey Schiller, the Commercial Commissioner of the America’s Cup.

“The previous America’s Cup proved to be a huge success and demonstrated the excitement of this format of racing,” said Nuno Ferreira, Director of Programming at Sport TV.
“By coming on board ahead of the first event in Portsmouth, we now have two years to engage and grow our audience, building up the America’s Cup in Bermuda in 2017.”
The Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series opens with three events in 2015, beginning with live racing from Portsmouth, UK on the 25th and 26th July.

Still can’t quite believe this is happening. The exposure Bermuda will be getting from this event, plus the constant references to it in the lead up and the world series events, is priceless.
Will the BTA be inserting adverts into the coverage in addition?
The more coverage the AC has is great….however what or where is the proof that, it will lead to future increase tourist.

Is the expectation that people will see Bermuda on TV, find it irresistible and then flock here….
Its called exposure!!!!!!!!….are you really that dense? If you see an advertisement on a amazing car or a new TV, are you going to run out and go buy one?? Probably not, but if your TV breaks or your looking to buy a new car, I bet if that advertisement ticked a few boxes then you would at the VERY least consider it. It’s simple…or maybe you are really that DENSE.
Not if you cant afford it, as Bermuda is VERY expensive, so instead of buying a B.M.W(Bermuda), they would buy a Toyota(the Caribbean) which they can afford.
Onion Juice and Rhonda probably have no conception of what the America’s Cup is, or just how huge and burgeoning the Chinese tourist market is (I know this is about Portugal, but they gave the same reaction to China).
Not all of us use the power of our own minds, there are some who will simply follow blindly. I trust Onion Juice and Rhonda to do some research to open their eyes.
