39-Year-Old Record Broken At BNAA Track Meet

The Flyers Track Club hosted the latest Bermuda National Athletic Association’s Track and Field Meet at the National Sports Center.

Tiara DeRosa electrified the crowd as she broke a 39-year-old record in the Discus Throw surpassing Branwen Smith’s toss of 42.60m set back in May of 1977.

With a strong breeze in her face, DeRosa reached back and reached back and recorded a toss of 45.02m, her toss also saw her reach the qualifying standard for the Carifta Games.

Ethan Philip came up just short of reaching the Under 20 Boys Long Jump Carifta Standard mark of 6.80m, when he leaped 6.61m, while Quincy Kuzyk won the Under 18 Boys 1500 Meter Run clocking a time of 4:45.00, Malik Joell was second with a time of 4:47.94 and Ryan Outerbridge was third in 4:54.91.

The Under 18 Girls 800 Meter Run saw Messiah Greaves run to victory with a time of 2:35.68, Kayla Raymond finished second with a time of 2:39.33 and Mikaela Outerbridge finished third in 2:42.08.
