Minister Extends Thoughts & Prayers To Families

[Updated] In the wake of two deaths last night, the Minister of National Security Jeff Baron said that as two families confront the tragedy of losing loved ones, “our thoughts and prayers must be with the families and friends who now mourn their loss.”

Last night saw two people die in separate incidents, with a 26-year-old man killed in a shooting in Pembroke, while a 17-year-old male died following a collision in Smiths.

This morning, Minister Baron said “Two families this morning confront the tragedy of losing loved ones.”

“No matter the circumstances, the loss of ‎such young life strikes hardest in our community and our first thoughts and prayers must be with the families and friends who now mourn their loss.

“In the coming days, weeks and months, they will need our support as they face the impact of such tragic events,” concluded Minister Baron.

Update: In echoing the Police’s appeal to the public for witnesses, Minister Baron said, “The Bermuda Police Service has commenced the investigation into both incidents that happened this weekend.

“I join with them in asking for witnesses to please come forward. Any information regarding these tragic events will assist in the investigation and members of the public can be assured that every effort is being made to determine the full facts surrounding this loss of life.”
