Pilot Boat Helps Deliver Patient To Hospital

A pilot boat was dispatched to Smith’s Island on Wednesday [July 13] in order to aid and transport an 86-year-old woman that had sustained an injury at home, with the patient later taken to KEMH.

A Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre spokesperson said, “On Wednesday, July 13 at 11.04am, RCC Bermuda coordinated the evacuation of an injured 86-year-old female who sustained an injury at home on Smith’s Island, St. George’s Harbour.

“The Pilot boat was tasked to transfer a team of medical personnel from Ordnance Island to the residence on Smith’s Island and collect the patient, who was later transferred to Ordnance Island, to an awaiting ambulance. The patient was taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.”
