June 2016: Retail Sales Increase By 2.1%
Retail sales in June 2016 increased 2.1% above the $100.9 million recorded in June 2015 – and when adjusting for the annual retail sales rate of inflation, measured at 0.5% in June, the volume of retail sales increased 1.4% — according to the recently released Retail Sales Index.
“Five of the seven sectors experienced increases in sales revenue. Liquor stores registered the largest rise in sales receipts of 9.1%. Building material stores recorded the largest loss in sales of 9.1%,” the report said.

“Returning residents declared overseas purchases valued at $4.1 million, which was 4.9% lower than June 2015. This contributed to a combined local and overseas spending of $107.1 million.
“Excluding Sundays, there were 25 shopping days during the month, the same as June 2015.”
