Courts To Prioritise Money Laundering Cases
The Supreme Court has issued a new Practice Direction requiring Bermuda courts to prioritise cases involving money laundering, terrorist financing, and related proceeds of crime applications.
The Practice Direction stated, “The purpose of this Practice Direction [which is made after consultation with the President of the Court of Appeal and the Senior Magistrate] is to ensure that all courts in Bermuda- the Magistrates’ Court, the Supreme Court, and the Court of Appeal – give priority to the listing, case management, and determination of all matters involving money laundering [ML], terrorist financing [TF], and related proceeds of crime applications.”
