The 2016 World Rugby Classic concluded with France defeating Canada 18 – 15 in the Plate Finals and South Africa defeating Argentina 12 – 0 to claim the Championship title
France 18 – Canada 15
The opening match needed an extra 10 minutes to decide a winner as a penalty goal in the second period of extra time off the boot of France kicker Jonathan Chassaing earning them a 18 – 15 win over Canada.
This match was played in high winds and heavy rains at times and ended with the match level at 15 – 15 . France got on the board first with a try from Goderzi Shvelidze followed by a Conversion off the boot of Chassaing earned them a 7 – 0 lead.

Canada would draw level minutes later when Regis Senier went over for a try for France, but with the conversion missed the score remained 12 – 7, Canada refused to go quietly as they answered with a try from Morgan Finley who finished off a great move, however the conversion attempt was missed leaving the at 12 – 12.
The two teams traded penalties that moved the game into the overtime period.
In the overtime period, Canada decided not to make a penalty kick attempt, but France would emerge victorious after they took advantage of a penalty attempt.
Argentina 0 – South Africa 12
This match saw a scoreless first half, with both teams struggling with the windy and wet conditions. After breaking down a strong Argentina defence, South Africa finally took the lead making the score  5 – 0.
The lead was doubled with 5 minutes remaining as Darron Nel would make it 10 – 5 with a try, and when the conversion was added by Monty Dumond it made the score 12 – 0
Neither team would threaten goal line for the remainder of the game to finish the day with a 12 – 0 victory.
