Police Confirm Death Of 48-Year-Old Ian Mackie

[Updated] The police have confirmed the death of a 48-year-old man, and said that foul play is not suspected.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 2:30pm on Sunday, February 5th police and first responders were dispatched to a report of an unresponsive male at a Longford Road, Warwick residence.

“EMTs performed CPR on the 48-year-old man at the scene and then transported him via ambulance to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

“Foul play is not suspected and no further information regarding the deceased will be provided at this time, until next of kin has been notified.”

Update Feb 6, 1.07pm: A police spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Police Service can now confirm the death of 48-year-old Ian Mackie and extends condolences to his family and friends.

“Mr. Mackie was discovered in an unresponsive state inside a Longford Road, Warwick residence around 2:30pm Sunday, February 5th.

“Despite life saving efforts at the scene which continued as he was transported via ambulance to hospital, he was pronounced dead at 3:04pm that day.

“As previously stated, foul play is not suspected. However, an autopsy is anticipated.”
