Two Hour Video: Marathon & Half Marathon Race

[Updated] The 2018 Bermuda Marathon Weekend Marathon and Half-Marathon took place this morning [Jan 14], with both local and international runners taking part.

The route map says, “Bermuda Marathon runners & walkers will complete two loops of the Bermuda Half Marathon course.

“Start at the Flag Pole on Front St. Hamilton; proceed east to Crow Ln., and the South roundabouts, east on South Rd., to Devil’s Hole Hill, left onto Harrington Sound Rd., west to Flatts Village, west along North Shore Rd. to St. John’s Rd.

“Left onto St. John’s Rd., Pitts Bay Rd., turn left onto Bermudiana Rd. making a u-turn just before Gorham Rd., proceed on the left side of the road back to Front St. turning left and continuing on the right side of the Bird Cage to the finish.”

The Half Marathon women’s record time of 1 hour and 11 minutes is held by Ethiopia’s Elfenesh Alemu, while the men’s record is held by Jordan Chipangama of Zambia with a time of 1 hour and 4 minutes.

Russia’s Elena Makolova time of 2 hours and 41 minutes is the women’s Marathon record, while Great Britain’s Andy Holden holds the men’s Marathon record with a time of 2 hours and 15 minutes.

The Race Weekend kicked off on Friday evening with the Front Street Mile, and continued with the 10K race held on Saturday.
