Car’s Back Window Shattered By Softball

July 1, 2019

The Bermuda Netball Association [BNA] is advising the public to park on the western side of Bernard’s Park for the remainder of the BNA Summer League in order to avoid the danger of errant softballs.

A BNA spokesperson said, “Please be advised that on June 27, we experienced another incident of which a car’s back window was completely shattered by a softball.

“Not only was there damage to a vehicle, but also people narrowly missed being struck by several softballs that were hit over the fence, onto the netball courts and the surrounding areas.”

BNA Advisory Park Vehicles On Designated Areas Bermuda June 2019

“This has been an ongoing problem for years despite the efforts of reaching out to the Softball Association and YS&R regarding this major health and safety risk.

“As we continue to do our best to protect our members, your children and your property, we ask that for the remainder of the BNA Summer League all vehicles be parked on the western side of Bernard’s Park and that you remain vigilant before, during and after the matches, as there is a high probability that softballs will be hit over the fence and onto surrounding areas.

“Should you choose to park on the eastern side of Bernard’s Park, please note you are parking at your own risk as YS&R will not be liable for any damages resulting from sporting activities.”
