Nathan Trott Named To England U/21 Squad
Bermudian goalkeeper Nathan Trott has received his first call-up to the England Under-21 football squad ahead of their upcoming 2021 UEFA European Championship qualifying matches against Turkey and Kosovo.
Mr. Trott joined London Premier League team West Ham United Football Club in 2016 on the recommendation of Bermudian football legend Clyde Best, a striker for the club in the 1960s and 1970s.
He signed a new contract with West Ham in March and is currently on a season-long loan to League One club AFC.
A West Ham spokesperson said that Mr. Trott will link up with the rest of Under-21 England team ahead of their opening games in a group which also includes Albania, Andorra and Austria.
“The call-up signifies another remarkable achievement for the promising young goalkeeper, who became a Premier League 2 regular for West Ham’s Under-23 side when he was just 17 years old,” said the spokesperson for the London team.
“Having represented both Bermuda and England at youth level, Trott was also part of the Young Lions squad that won the UEFA European Under-19 Championship in June 2017.
“He has subsequently won six caps for the England Under 20 squad to date.”
Mr. Trott will first travel with the Under-21 squad to Turkey’s Izmit Stadium on September 6, before England hosts Kosovo at Hull City’s KC Stadium on September 9.
