Home Affairs Ministry Meets With Major Grocers
The Ministry of Home Affairs had a meeting with major grocers to discuss the “cost of living as well as solutions to alleviate challenges faced by residents.”
The Government posted the photos online below, and said, “The Ministry of Home Affairs continues to have important discussions around the cost of living and solutions to alleviate challenges faced by residents.
“Today’s meeting with major grocers allowed Minister Roban to gain valuable insight into next steps for tackling this issue.”
These pictures just beg for a “caption this” contest.
1. No, Minister, peanut butter and mayonnaise cannot be considered ‘essential’ food supplies, even in Bermuda
2. Of course they can. This my families favourite – Bermudas Best mayonnaise. It’s the bestest
3. We could sell this to cabinet if you could import condensed titty milk in cans.
4. I like to buy my peanut butter in jars ‘this big’.
See the toilet paper there, to catch all the hogwash!
Scrapping the sugar tax would be a good start.
Mayonaise is a staple.
Looks like a working lunch.
The grocery stores and this government are full of hanky panky
Love the Flip Flop photo…”you gonna eat that?”
The fact is there is no competition
There would be if Lindos opened
Sundays and later than 8pm like
stores in rest of developed world but
Bermuda for some reason is special…
So we have marketplace owned
by a tired uninspired group of folk who
clearly make more than enough off the business
Overpriced
Super-mart which does well with the well heeled
Miles …ditto
Arnold’s is essentially booze and convenience
And Lindos for rest of us … when it’s open
Not a one of them offers reasonable
deals … all we get is ‘spacials’ …ie stuff
about to go off so its discounted
bongo deals, never heard of that here sadly
Marketplace hasnt renovated or redesigned
in centuries … the stores are so
depressing and icky it’s torture to go thru them
Lindos is a mess as it’s always so busy
I have t even started on prices
V
But one thing working against our
governments efforts is sales at
grocery stores are way down… shelves are emptier,
less people clearly shopping f
so dont expect them to come to the table with any relief anytime soon
Why are the prices of items different in all the marketplaces??? Some places are more expensive than others. Why is that?
One thing Government could do is remove that ridiculous “Sugar tax” which is such a sham. Just another way for this Government to make money. Because, let’s be real, it is certainly is not about OUR health.
