If you can’t figure it out let me me tell you. This is a prep rally. Plp 101

    • Mb says:

To call AC a “one shot wonder” he may want to ask the many Bermudians and junior sailors who have benefited greatly if they agree on that…
No buses is OBA fault ? lmfao
A silly and childish not presidential like address … expected more from OUR premier
he needs a new speech writer

      • Things a Gwan says:

It doesn’t matter if AC was a one shot wonder. That One shot wonder lasted two us years. Besides, it worked and was the most successful and best organized event Bermuda and perhaps any of our Carribean partners has ever seen. Not one tourism initiative that the PLP has ever introduced has come close.

Beyonce Concert. PGA Grand Slam, 20 / 20 Cricket, Black Majors Conference So Mr. Burr until you deliver better, don’t criticize the hard work that others before you did,

      • Toadinthehole says:

He may want to ask why zane keeps praising it

      • BermudaRat says:

This is the scariest, saddest speech I have ever heard from a leader in Bermuda. Pray for us!

      • sandgrownan says:

        Burt really is an idiot.

      • Retro says:

Burt sounds like the angriest man in Bermuda which is hard to take seriously considering the amount of traveling to pointless crypto conventions and photo ops with wealthy guys.

    • hair says:

somuchless, we need to call 911.. HELP

    • aceboy says:

That is exactly what it was. All Preparation, no H.

    • hmmm says:

The OBA needs to come out and reveal who their support base is!

  2. Pondering says:

Very disappointing that the declaration to all of Bermuda’s people has been narrowed down to an agenda item for one specific party’s delegation. If we are real on moving forward together, surely we would look to becoming more ‘inclusive’ rather than ‘exclusive’. Being able to link arms together as ‘Bermudians’ is probably not a reality, is it.

  3. Oh,I see now says:

So what, is this a throne speech for the damn choir and a chance to blame the public if they don’t show.Burt surrounded by a whole slew of Ernies. At least Sesame Street was a joy to watch and you learned something.

  4. wahoo says:

    This is BS.

    • Vortex says:

Its worse than that, its hatred, its divisive.

Its a huge step into the past.

      SMH.

  5. Triangle Drifter says:

“This year, the conference will feature speeches from dynamic youth of the party”

WOW! Sounds like something straight out of Germany.

    • wahoo says:

      Lotta empty seats…

      • Paul says:

There was a lot of emty seats there….. Burt mentioned “family and friends a lot
The Premier towards the end of his speech touched his nose a few times,Pinochio came to mind.

      • Things a Gwan says:

He actually criticized the former UBP and the banks that invested our money wisely in these difficult times which has taken those funds to $3 Billion. How dare they do their job and at the same time make money too. Then he announced that the union is getting in the business and praises them. This is the same group that was recently 10 years behind in “their accounts” . All I can say is wow.

        • Things a Gwan says:

Did he actually criticize the banks for sending their profits overseas? Remember when HSBC was Bank Of Bermuda? Who charged that? What party allowed local bank to be foreign owned? PLP wasn’t it. Am I wrong?!

      • sandgrownan says:

I noticed that too. It really was an empty suit presentation wasn’t it – usual old race rhetoric…we’re in election mode basically because they have nothing left.

    • Toodle-oo says:

Coz you just know what their specific area of dynamism is going to be in.

  6. Politricks says:

This is like a US President giving the annual State of the Union address at either a Democrat or Republican National Convention.

Scary that our Government treats a deomcracy in this fashion. What’s even scarier is that many of their supporters see nothing wrong with this step.

    • wa says:

      ” What’s even scarier …”

Is how plp supporters don’t see how much like the trump republicans that they are.

  7. Myra says:

    Is this broadcast live anywhere?

  8. Ringmaster says:

A vision? Is this an evangelical meeting? Just playing to the masses. Premier Burt needs to remember he may have a 25-11 seat majority, but that can easily be overturned as the vote was around 45/55. Many of those Bermudians he believes he is serving are hurting thanks to his Party’s actions.

  9. Question says:

Last week they announced they would be doing the Throne Speech at their annual dinner. Why did it keep changing? Don’t they know what they’re doing?

  10. Rotten Onion says:

What would the PLP do without a racial divide.

  11. Wing knot says:

So the cog in the wheel is still running down the Americas cup, when hanky panky just spent thousands to go and promote super yachts.. well done voters.
    #Hypocrites

    • sandgrownan says:

Think about – that’s all they have, two years in. They have no ideas, no plan, are abject demonstrable failures and the economy circles the drain.

All they have two years on is to bang the immigration drum and complain about something they wouldn’t have had the wit to contemplate.

      The PLP are failures.

    • REAL TALK says:

Far cry from the 30k plus Sylvan Richards spent in Brazil for attending the Olympics. Also did you ever find out where the JET GATE Money went? DId you ask your current obaUBP leader Craig?

Talk about selecting the worst leader over the best. Well done OBA.

  12. Allan says:

The concept of making life easy for “some” is nice but to state that Bermuda has failed is absurb. The leader of the PLP, whom consistently indicates he is only interested in his “parties” well being, at the demise of the entire Country should be given a badge for treason. He needs a reminder of his oath of office! We are a British colony if his agenda does not like that fact then he needs to step asside.

  13. Toadinthehole says:

That was nothing more than an election rally

  14. Not exactly says:

Worrying plan to raid private pensions to create a GOV’T supermarket

  15. Ess Ess Dee says:

I’d like to categorically state that I will never ever vote for the PLP again..I was hoodwinked into voting for them since 1998 and as I watched this nonsense on bernews it is painfully obvious that they dont know what the hell they are doing therefore I stopped watching the foolery.

People of Bermuda please wake up. I challenge each of you to critically review the PLP agenda…. actually I dont believe it’s an agenda as they dont operate strategically or have the requisite experience to have a plan that requires an agenda. This is our country and we should no longer allow it to be run by overpaid egotistical individuals with mediocre intellect and zero forsight.

Sadly enough the current opposition is just as pathetic and are a lethargic lack luster and dispicable opposition who have zero voice and leadership.

If only we could pull a few from either party we might be able to gain some traction and enable Bermuda to become an island of excellence from an economic and social perspective for many generations to come.

  16. James says:

Ok, well that’s clear Mr Burt.

Race is everything. The ‘Status Quo’

And as an Expat who employs 40 people, 27 of them Bermudian, what do you think I am thinking now?

  17. Time Bell says:

Astonishing, astonishing speech. Ridiculous and misguided.

Everyone who is successful is the enemy, and what are IB thinking now?

    Bye, bye Bermuda.

  18. Me says:

And you get a car and you get a car and you get a car

  19. tyree says:

An ugly, backward speech full of hatred.

  20. Jayne says:

Oh my Premier Burt, what have you done?

  21. Chris L says:

So David Burt, yes “I am ready to take it to the streets, and to social media”.

To fight against you and your unjust words.

  22. steve says:

I wonder if people will ever grow tired of the PLP’s verbal diarrhea and start measuring them on results.
Eventually the coolaid will need to be watered down in order for everyone to have a drink? Maybe then…?

  23. Now I know says:

At least I now know that I am the enemy. It has finally been said.

  24. Birdlegs says:

    So disappointed in my government.

    • An Enemy says:

Indeed. This is beyond shameful. Why is he so full of hate?

      Sad days ahead for Bermuda.

  25. Rocky5 says:

The Private Pension Scheme was PASSED by the PLP, NOT the UBP.

  26. Onion Fist says:

As a Bermudian entrepreneur who is now being taxed at every corner of my business by this lackluster PLP Government ,and now what ! Burts speech was the worst I have ever heard,,EVER!! How does this man think business works? Well I have to say business according to Burt will not work!!
And by the way I made a good chunk of change during the “BOAT RACE” under the OBA!!! The PLP Government has done nothing to enhance only to hinder. There is still nothing from you Burt. Your speech said NOTHING,NADA,ZILCH!! So carry on with childish rants as its seems its all you have!

  27. Bermudian says:

Let him sink his own ship.
