Brendon Todd won the Bermuda Championship in style as he tied the course record by shooting a nine-under-par 62 to go -24 under for the tournament.

Todd won by four strokes over Harry Higgs. Hank Lebioda finished tied for third after shooting a 63 on the Port Royal Golf Course to finish -18. Aaron Wise and Brian Gay were also 18 under. Scottie Scheffler was one of the four men tied for third. Scheffler broke the course record on Thursday when he shot a 62, a mark he now shares with Todd.

Bermuda Championship Round 4 Highlights

Todd, who was two strokes back at the start of the day, said he was “over the moon to win the inaugural Bermuda Championship. “A year ago, I was talking to my manager about potentially opening up another business and not sure if I was going to keep playing,” Todd said. “So to turn it around in one year and regain status and then have a big win this like this is just a dream come true and hopefully a springboard to a really long, successful career out here.”

He birdied seven straight holes – 2nd-8th – to take command of this tournament. Todd said, “playing a round like that is always pretty special.”

Todd enthused that he will “tell people how beautiful Bermuda is. It’s an amazing island out in the middle of the ocean that’s not that difficult to get to, worth the visit, the people are really nice, it seems very clean, there’s lots to do in Hamilton. So really it’s a special place. It’s a place you want to go on vacation, it’s a place you want to visit.”

Higgs was philosophical about losing saying, “It was the most fun I’ve ever had getting my rear-end kicked, for sure.”

This golf tornament was a spectacular event far surpassing any event ever put on in Bermuda… the live broadcast on the golf channel was a piece of brilliance for tourism for Bermuda…begs me to question Kevin Dallas ,the BTA,and the millions of tax payers money if it’s being wasted. Why he had to go live on the Golf channel and mention the Americus Cup baffled me.

Port Royal is a par 3 course to professionals, just as well the real pros were busy in China. Bermuda now needs a report on how much the $3million has generated for Bermuda and Bermudians. Very low ticket sales and attendance would indicate a loss. Lots of pretty pictures but nothing like the exposure 2 years of the AC gave. The AC is still giving to Bermuda’s youth, just ask the school kids who participate in Endeavor as an example.

Why wasn’t the game on TV?
Very poor coverage for Bermudians that wanted to watch it.

Will hank give us an u0date on how much we won loss money wise.. he did say this event was bigger then the AC.
Probably get it the same time we get the hanky panky report.
