Facebook Unites Brother and Sister
A Bermudian man flew to Florida this week to meet his sister for the very first time — after she found him earlier this year on Facebook.
When 21-year-old Teko Bean arrived at Tampa International Airport on Friday [Dec 10], his flight was an hour late, but his sister Zoey Jenkins said she could live with the delay since she had waited 24 years to meet him.
The siblings’ father, Terry Lee Jenkins, was in the US Navy. Ms Jenkins, 24, was born in the United States while Mr. Bean was born and raised in Bermuda. The newly-connected siblings believe there may be one more sibling out there, however they have not made contact as of yet.
Mr. Bean decided this weekend was the ideal time for him to visit and meet his sister for the first time , as Ms Jenkins was graduating from the University of South Florida’s School of Business.
Ms Jenkins said she always knew she had a brother, however only learned his name recently – and immediately searched for him on Facebook. When we asked what prompted her to look, she said she always wanted a little brother, and as a child she used to ask her mom for a little brother every Christmas. She said family is very important to her, and she is thrilled to have finally met her little brother, who as she pointed out, isn’t quite so little.
Mr Bean had grown up knowing he had a sister, but didn’t know much more than that. He said his mother always told him if his sister wanted to find him – she would, and as Mr Bean pointed out “she was right.”
Mr Bean also met his 3 year old nephew for the first time. What does he think of his new uncle? Mr Bean said he was “excited but shy”. Presently employed at Digicel, Mr Bean is planning to move close to his sister and continue his education.

Responsibility is lacking all over the world….its obvious. I felt it was my responsibility to find my brother and be in his life from that moment on. Some things are a part of life. Nobody’s perfect. Just be responsible for your self.

Your one of the biggest losers I have come across that has nothing better to do but sit up everyday waiting for bernews to update so you can do what you do best, talk negative about everything. This guy just found his sister after 20 odd years and the nicest thing you could say is something negative. I cant believe bernews lets you post stuff like this.
