Group To Host Parallel Computing Seminar

November 20, 2011

A world authority in the field of parallel computing will be providing an introductory seminar on the subject to the Bermuda .NET Users Group next month [Dec.1],

Before moving to Bermuda, Tiberiu Covaci worked in Sweden as developer and architect in different projects.

In 2004 he started Many-core, a company that helped customers around Europe to adopt Microsoft’s .NET framework and related technologies in their projects by training and mentoring them.

He works closely with Microsoft, both as author and technology reviewer for the Microsoft .NET Official Curriculum courses.

Mr. Covaci is interested in technologies like multi-core programming, ASP.NET, new programming languages and trends. You can find him at industry conferences around the globe, like TechEd, VSLive, DevReach, NDC, Öredev, Scandev, and TechDays.

For his contributions in the area of parallel computing he was awarded the MVP title by Microsoft.

Next week’s meeting will take place from 5:30-8pm on the fourth floor of the Argus Building at 14 Wesley Street, Hamilton.

This event is free with giveaways, cocktails and a chance to network with peers. It is open to anyone but most subjects will be geared to the following audience: software developers, database administrators, quality assurance professionals, actuaries, modellers, students and those interested in learning more about software development.

The Bermuda .NET Users Group is dedicated to advancing .Net development on the island by sharing knowledge with and learning from each other.

Group meetings are held three times a year and discussions range from coding techniques to general architecture to “best known methods” — and beyond.

Additionally the group will bring well known figures from the Microsoft development community to come and talk about their areas of specialty on a regular basis.

“The talks will be cutting edge, dynamic and interactive and learning is the goal,” said a group spokesman.
