Second Nomination For Bermudian’s Novel

March 6, 2012

“Yesterday’s Tomorrow”,  the debut novel about debut 2011 romantic novel about love and war by Bermudian author Catherine West [pictured], has been nominated for a second international award for Christian-themed literature.

On Saturday [Mar.3] the Grace Awards announced Ms West’s novel about a woman journalist covering the Viet Nam War who teams with a silent, brooding photographer with something to hide, was one of three finalists in its Action Adventure/Western/Historic Epic Fiction category.

Now in its second year, the US-based Grace Awards recognise excellence in inspirational literature in categories including Women’s Fiction, Contemporary Romance/Historical Romance, Suspense/Thriller/Mystery/Romantic Suspense/ Detective Series, Speculative Fiction and Young Adult.

Last year the book, set against the tumult and tragedy of the ’60s-era conflict in South East Asia, won an  INSPY – awards created to recognise excellence in faith-driven literature. The book took top honours in the INSPY romance category, beating out competition from across the US and Canada.

“What a ride it’s been,” said a Grace Awards spokesman. “This year we had and avalanche of reader nominations to determine our finalists. The number of reader votes was up more than double from last year.

“All nominations for any novel must be accompanied by at least a 25 word statement telling why the novel was nominated … a sort of mini-review or ‘ notice’. This year the reasons given were astute and outstanding.

“There is no doubt that the Christian reader is both intelligent and perceptive.”
