Weather Service Issues Tropical Storm Watch

October 26, 2012

The Bermuda Weather Service has issued a Tropical Storm Watch, and said winds are expected to increase starting tonight.

Hurricane Sandy’s closest point of approach to Bermuda within 72 hrs (3 days) is forecast to be 430 nm to the WNW at 9pm on Sunday October 28th.

Their forecast said: “Hurricane Sandy to our distant west southwest will bring an increase in winds beginning tonight. Dangerous surf will develop over the weekend along the south shore as Sandy moves north.

“A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Bermuda, as Sandy is a very large storm with tropical storm conditions expected to impact Bermuda Sunday and into the week ahead.”

So I was just watching the weather channel(23)at 6:05 pm and they showed a graphic of Sandy moving up the east coast showing the extend of hurricane and tropical force winds, and Bermuda isn’t getting either. It would be nice for the Bermuda Weather Service to give a REAL forcast for Bermuda instead of covering their a$$es and promoting fear mongering.

Have you looked at the size of the storm. It is 460 miles WIDE.

Stop being stubborn and follow the instructions of those that know what they are doing.

Whilst we will not get a direct hit we will catch the outer bands as the storm changes from a tropical storm to a Nor Easter.

IT’S BETTER TO BE SAFE THEN SORRY.

The BWS are not good at what they do, perhaps explained by the fact their titles are “weather observer” not meteorological titles, with that in mind we are all observers so my observations carry as much credibility. Watch the weather channel it way more informative.

Does anyone know if the Regatta will be stopping in Bermuda or will it pass Bermuda by?
