4-Year-Old Boy Injured In Motorcycle Accident

A 4-year-old boy was injured and taken to hospital last night [Jan 10] when the motorcycle he was a passenger on was involved in a collision on Middle Road in Smith’s.

A police spokesperson said, “Around 8:30pm on Thursday, January 10th police and first responders attended a reported single vehicle motorcycle collision on Middle Road in Smith’s parish near the junction with Verdmont Road.

“The motorcycle rider, a 29 year old St. George’s man and his pillion passenger, a 4 year old St. George’s boy were injured. Members of the public as well as emergency services promptly came to their assistance and both victims were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital via ambulance for treatment.

“Their injuries were not considered to be serious and at last check both victims were in stable condition. Inquiries into this collision are ongoing.

    Sad to see when young ones are injured on motorcycles. It does not say this is the case, but it really irritates me when I see parents let their young ones stand or sit IN FRONT of them on the bike. They think the handlebars will somehow protect them but they are just a sudden stop away from losing their teeth or worse. They should ticket everyone who does not put their child properly behind them on the seat.

      I fully agree, but the child must also be placed in a special seat, because I have seen children on the back of bikes half asleep and one corner short of falling off.
