23-Yr-Old Bermudian Woman Arrested In Atlanta

February 5, 2013

A 23-year-old Bermudian female who was traveling with her parent — a serving police officer — has been arrested in Atlanta on suspicion of drug smuggling.

Police Media Manager Dwayne Caines said, “A 23 year old Bermudian female traveling with her parent was arrested and detained by authorities at the airport in Atlanta on suspicion of drug smuggling.

“The parent is a serving officer with the Bermuda Police Service but is not connected with the alleged activity of the young woman and was therefore not similarly detained.”

Well well lil girl. Make ya bed hard.. Lie in it! Where’s my strap!!!

    • Sour Eggnog says:

      Pervert

    • concerned says:

      who is she…what’s her name?

      • What? says:

Not that I care who the female is, but its very strange that she’s being un named in this “drug case” article. These are usually the culprits who are named all over the media from here to Timbuktu. Oh right, can’t spoil the reputation of her police parent.

        • Be for real the arrest just took place and their is no way that we need to name who it is until the facts are all pointing in the direction that the authorities need it to go,now for some jack dont dont understand jack, this is why we dont get cases busted that needs to be busted, because far to much information is release before time, who is this young lady allegedly connected to,or doing it for is just as important as bringing her in guilty, if guilty, for her role in it,so dont be so quick to want her to be named.

        • Billy Mays says:

This is taking place in the real world. Bermuda rules don’t apply, and local media don’t care about some random idiots at Hartsfield.

          • @work says:

No mention of this on the ATL news tonight.

            • SMH while I lol says:

that’s not news in Atlanta that’s why. someone probably got arrested with more drugs in their car than she had. bermudians need to stop trying to compare bermuda to any part of America. what’s news in bermuda is regular in the US. you have sometimes more people die in a single incident in America than die in bermuda in a whole year. If bermudians stop worrying bout everywhere else they would see how good bermuda has it.

        • Bernews says:

@What? You seem to be unfamiliar with news reports as there is nothing ‘strange’ about not naming someone arrested. It’s standard procedure as people are only named once/if they are charged in Court.

Feel free to check the archives for the past few years and you will find this is always the case. People arrested are only identified by a combo of age/gender/parish – never by name.

          • What? says:

Ok “Bernews” Terribly sorry I’m not one of your full-time readers. I don’t have to look back at any archives either. I’ll just go ahead and take your word.

            • Bernews says:

Thanks, we didn’t think you would need to be a “full time” Bernews reader as it’s nothing specific to us.

The local newspapers and TV generally do the same thing, it’s been standard procedure island wide for many years.

According to police stats, there are around 3,000 – 5,000 people arrested on the island each year for all the various offences, imagine trying to gather all those names!

“Well I never” Mommy may I?

What is going on with our young people?

  4. mixitup says:

Well slap me and call me Susan!! Just when you think you’ve heard it all!

  5. What Do You THink says:

Interesting, How long has that been going on?

  6. Makes me wonder. says:

Was this a test run gone bad?

  7. What is going on? says:

    And the parent didn’t know??????

  8. Wazz Up!!!! says:

    Nothing new here.

  9. Grubster says:

Sadly, sometimes it doesn’t matter how well you have brought your children up, they become adults and do stupid things

  10. doesitmatter says:

shut up. just like she doesn’t know the details of your life, none of you know hers. it annoys me how Bermudas are so quick to comment on something they know nothing about! grow up and stop bashing people. just because your bs you’ve done hasn’t been publicly publicized it doesn’t make you any better than her.

  11. Triangle Drifter says:

After the whipping given to the Canadian family lets see what gets said about the Bermuda family. I’m waiting for a string of excuses.

  12. Just us says:

If this girl would have gotten past security in the U.S.of A. She would have gotten past Bermuda’s micky Mouse Security as well. She’s probable done this before and gotten away with it, using her parent as a boarding pass to smuggle… Now we know how its done.

    • SMH while I lol says:

bermuda police get no bypass with America airport security so I don’t see how that would work

      • Just us says:

@ SMH while I lol: Lots of drugs slip through the American borders. My point was, once in BDA, the girl being with her officer parent would have been welcomed with open arms by fellow officers.

        • swing voter says:

@ Just us…..spot on….this happens more often than we want to admit….most of the time, a certain CO would be on point determining who goes through without question and who goes to secondary baggage checks. Funny how I seem to be the one with my little carry on chosen for secondary

  13. Judge Dredd says:

Guys it’s possible that she was just caught with a joint in her purse.

    • Just us says:

@ Judge Dredd: I’m sure the headline would have said joint instead of drug smuggling…

  14. Kathy says:

Isn’t this ironic…aren’t we normally trying to get the drugs INTO Bermuda rather than OUT of Bermuda? Obviously, the drugs are worth less on the Bermudian market than on the US market or she wouldn’t be taking them OUT. My have times changed!!!

    • Moojun says:

Erm, how do you know that she was arrested on arrival vs departure? It doesn’t specify in the article.

    • SMDH says:

What gave you the impression she was taking them out of Bermuda?

    • hmm says:

she was allegedly taking the drugs out of atlanta, but nice try at attempting to be clever Kathy

  15. simon say's says:

If that was me, the ATL police would have let me go, After the BEATING MY MOMMA WOULD HAVE GAVE ME!!!!!!!!

I would have got WHOPPED BAD! Crazy!!!

    • Myzterri says:

AMEN!!!! The safest place for my child would be with the ATL Police Dept.

      • tricks are for kids says:

        CHOICES……

        • Cool J says:

          I agree. Simply Put. CHOICES!

What they don’t realize until it’s too late, that the bad decisions they make also affect their loved ones. I feel for her mom and family.

      • Justine says:

That’s so funny – but so true of my family too!

  16. bermy cedar says:

    AGAIN!!!!!!

  17. shak42 says:

Didn’t it say she got caught coming in bermuda so y would it be on atl news if she go caught in anothe jurisdiction?

    – your going do 13 baby girl!

  18. shak42 says:

She was allegedly bringing it in and got caught before she reached my bad

  19. smdh says:

I for one am very disappointed!!! I expected much more from you —-

  20. Wow says:

Poor Mom, now she has to support this mess as this is her child. Lawyer fees, canteen, etc…just crazy!

  21. Scary! says:

What’s scary is that while Bda Customs would have been focused on the “suspicious” looking people, this girl would have breezed right out the door because she was travelling with mom (a top cop). Glad she got caught before she made it back. Less drugs on our street.

  22. Bermy girl says:

As a mom of a daughter, im feeling sorry for the mom right about now. I would have truly been arrested as well for child brutality….

  23. Jason says:

Damn girl, you were the nicest girl in Prep, why you gotta do something so stupid like this? Life sucks but make yah own way through it, don’t go for that easy money.

    Peace

  24. wow says:

Wow I dont know what would make her allegedly do such a thing at 23 two children and parents that still spoil her. You really messed up this time. Look at it this now you and your bf are both criminals stuck here. Smh

  25. DreamCatcher says:

I was really hoping there were no children involved in this. How selfish.
