4 Year Old Girl Hospitalized After Near Drowning
A 4-year-old girl is hospitalized after being pulled from the water in an unresponsive state on Saturday afternoon [June 22] at a guest property in Flatts. She was revived at the scene, and the police said she is “resting comfortably.”
A police spokesperson said, “At 1:38pm on Saturday June 22nd police responded to a report of a near drowning at a guest property in Flatts.
“On an arrival, police spoke to a complainant who stated he was watching his two daughters and turned away for a short moments however when he turned back he noticed his 4 year old daughter unresponsive in the water.
“He immediately went in pulled his daughter out and began CPR. The ambulance was called and conveyed the young girl to the hospital. She was revived at the scene and is now resting comfortably on the Children’s Ward of KEMH.
“We would like to take this opportunity to remind parents and guardians to keep an eye on their children in the water at all times, as it only takes seconds for something tragic to happen.”
I am VERY glad that she’s going to be alright, God bless.
Glad to hear she is resting comfortably! Remember people…it only takes us to turn away for second! Please be vigilant in and around water with children!
It always touches my heart greatly when I hear of a near death experience, having to have gone through it with my own son with a medical condition. even though this had to do with swimming and water, it is still very heart wrenching for the parents and love ones to endure, So I say to the parents I thank God for her life been rescued and that are prayers are for you and with you.
Continue to treasure that beautiful gift God has given you, she is truly blessed and Gods angels kept watch over her the entire time.
God Bless
Glad to hear she is doing well.
Turned away for a few short moments?? If he were paying attention he would have heard her in distress or maybe not heard her playing. She was unresponsive!!! More like a few long a** moments!! Little one i am glad you are doing good!
Bozey, you’re wrong, and that’s the point that we all need to remember here, it only takes a second for a small child’s lungs to fill with water, one involuntary gulp in fact, and there is no sound. It could happen to any one of us, at any time.
Thankfully this accident seems to have had a happy ending.
@ Moojun, Bernews needs a like button.
People can drown right next to you and you could be unaware of it. Contrary to what you see in movies most often there is no thrashing of arms and cries for help as the victim is gulping air and trying so hard just to breath that they cannot call for help, raising their arms just makes then go under the water easier.
I’m sorry Bozey but you need educating on signs of drowning

The image you have from tv of a person screaming and flapping in the water is incorrect, drowning is silent, you are in fact correct when it comes to not hear her playing!
Good job to the EMT’s
boozy just so you know, most people who are drowning dont make a sound, they are so busy trying to gasp for air, and water is going in, they dont make a sound. I have seen it for myself.
This is the second case this year with a young child.
Please, all parents grandparents, boaters, pool owners – Read the parenting article listed above or there’s a good one at Gcaptain.com ‘drowning doesn’t look like drowning’.

Watch your kids every minute.
Have your cellphone to hand.
If they go quiet – look round.
Teach them to swim competently – the new pool is starting lessons soon I believe.
If you own a pool, make sure someone is watching users at all times.
Fence the pool securely.
Stay Safe everyone and best wishes to the little girl.
