Man Remanded On Imitation Firearm Charges

July 15, 2013

Appearing in Magistrates Court this morning [July 15], a 28-year-old man was remanded in custody after being charged with using an imitation firearm to avoid being arrested.

Trovaughn Smith, 28, denied the charges which stem from alleged actions in April 2013 in Southampton.

Smith pleaded not guilty to charges including attempting to use an imitation firearm to avoid arrest and violently resting arrest.

Smith also pleaded guilty to disobeying a traffic sign and failing to stop for police after being requested to do so. These actions are said to have occurred during a high-speed chase by police.

Senior Magistrate Archie Warner remanded Smith into custody until a trial set for September 2013.
