Man Admits Obstructing Police Inside Station
23 year old Faisal Baia appeared in Magistrates Court this morning [Nov 18] where he pleaded guilty to obstructing a police officer and not guilty to assaulting another police officer.
The charges result from an incident inside Hamilton Police Station around 3:00am on Friday 15th November 2013.
Crown Prosecutor Susan Mulligan told Senior Magistrate Archie Warner that police were attempting to get Baia into a police cell and that Baia was resisting.
At one point as police sought to remove articles of clothing that Baia had refused to remove, he allegedly struck a Police Sergeant.
Since Baia had pleaded not guilty to the second charge of assaulting a Police officer, the Magistrate set this matter down for trial.
The Magistrate ordered that Baia should be held in custody until his trial which will take place tomorrow. The Magistrate indicated that sentencing on the first count will happen once the trial on the second count has been completed.

In 2005 the then PLP government passed a law abolishing the distinction between a felony and a misdemenour.
So you’re correct.
Allegedly assaulting Police INSIDE a Police station. Not the brightest light on the Christmas Tree is he!
