Nov 8th: World Town Planning Day Celebration

November 5, 2013

This Friday [Nov 8th] the Department of Planning is inviting members of the public to join them in recognizing World Town Planning Day. Since 1949, World Town Planning Day has been celebrated in more than 30 countries.

Bermuda supports World Town Planning Day as an opportunity to promote better understanding and awareness of Bermuda’s Planners and planning to local communities and all levels of government.

In recognition of the World Town Planning Day, the Minister of Environment and Planning, Sylvan Richards invites you to attend a walking tour to highlight the Anglican Cathedral and the eight newly listed Government and Corporation of Hamilton owned buildings in the City of Hamilton. The tour will be led by members of the Historic Buildings Advisory Committee.

“I invite everyone to the walking tour to learn more about these significant buildings in the City of Hamilton,” said Minister Richards. “Many of us walk by these buildings every day and they are important, landmark buildings within the City. It will be an informative way for people to spend their lunch hour.”

The walking tour will begin at 12:30 from the lobby of City Hall on Friday November 8, 2012. The tour is approximately one mile in length and will take approximately one hour. Registration is preferred by emailing planning2@gov.bm.

In addition to the walking tour, staff from the Department of Planning will be at the lobby of City Hall from 11 am to 2 pm to answer any questions members of the public may have and to obtain input about what people would like to see in the City of Hamilton plan.
