Film Series To Feature Donald Trump & Wolfpack

August 10, 2015

An entertaining documentary featuring Donald Trump, and a documentary that won a Grand Jury Prize at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival, will screen at the Weekend Film Series, sponsored by Gosling’s, on Sunday August 16.

Screening at 3 p.m., A Dangerous Game sees filmmaker Anthony Baxter on the trail of Donald Trump again in a folksy, funny sequel to his 2011 festival hit, You’ve Been Trumped. In that film, a group of concerned citizens opposed Trump’s plans to build a ritzy golf course on ecologically-sensitive sand dunes in Aberdeenshire, Scotland.

In the explosive follow-up, A Dangerous Game, Baxter brings the Trump saga up to date and also widens the scope of his investigation to include public protests against similarly controversial golf resorts around the globe.

Travelling to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Dubrovnik, Croatia, and to Dubai, China, Long Island and Las Vegas, he talks to a range of experts and activists including actor Alec Baldwin and environmental lawyer Robert F. Kennedy Jr. about the environmental and economic impact of such developments on local landscapes and people.

He also – finally — gets a much-sought-after interview with Trump himself.

Screening at 5.15 p.m., The Wolfpack won the Grand Jury Prize in the U.S. Documentary category at Sundance.

The six Angulo brothers have spent their entire lives locked away from society in an apartment on the Lower East Side of Manhattan. Nicknamed “The Wolfpack,” they’re all exceedingly bright, are homeschooled, have no acquaintances outside their family and have practically never left their home.

All they know of the outside world is gleaned from the films they watch obsessively and recreate meticulously, using elaborate homemade props and costumes. But after one of the brothers escapes the apartment, the power dynamics in the house are transformed, and all the boys begin to dream of venturing out.

Director Crystal Moselle crafts a fascinating portrait of an extraordinary family, capturing the thrill of the Wolfpack’s discoveries without skirting the darker questions of abuse and confinement that weigh upon all of them.
